Steam on the Mainline
The age of steam is often regarded as a golden era of railway travel which disappeared from the British mainline in the 1960's as diesel and electric locomotives were introduced. Luckily for enthusiasts there are the preserved railways and on occasions throughout the year famous preserved/restored locomotives take to the mainline rails. This gallery has images celebrating these events.
