Big Sky at Fairfield.

Another image of Fairfield Church. A total contrast to the infra red example. The cloud effects and deep colouring was achieved by using HDR techniques on a Nikon RAW file separated into three exposures then recombined them using Photomatix software. Fairfield Church itself is an interesting building. The red bricks can be misleading as the building originally dates from the 13th century. The church was restored early in the twentieth century and improved drainage on the Romney Marsh landscape improved its environment on the conservation front but did rob photographers of the opportunity to take pictures of the church surrounded by water as was the case before the 1960s. The interior is a church in minature with box pews and a three decker pulpit. The font is a rare seven sided example and many of the timbers supporting the roof come from ancient sailing ships.
