This was taken on my first trip to Cornwall. I was hoping to capture the power of the mighty Atlantic on the shoreline. I was not disappointed. The Cornwall coast faces west and takes a regular pounding from the Atlantic Ocean. Huge waves orginating far out in the ocean crash onto these shores and provide wonderful conditions for activities with perhaps surfing the most famous. Equally, dramatic photographs are possible although with the salt spray in the atmosphere care has to be exercised and cameras need to be protectedwhere possible. Salt water, sand and cameras do not mix! This picture was taken in Newquay in the late afternoon. The combination of waves, wind and a touch of backlighting have created the image I was after.
